Maddie and Sophie are going to help save some sea turtles, and you can help!

As many of you know, we just spent a week in sunny, warm Cozumel, Mexico! Besides being a great place for kids like us to play on the beach, snorkel in the sea, and soak up all the horchata we can drink, Cozumel is also a major sanctuary for endangered sea turtles! And we want to help them. Don't you?
Sure you do!!
The Cozumel Marine Turtle Salvation Program is made up of a skeleton staff of three biologists and many unpaid volunteers who help survey sea turtle nests on Cozumel beaches, and then shepherd the hatched baby turtles safely into the sea. Hatchling sea turtles are at huge risk by natural and introduced predators, poachers, and traffic.
In 2011, the Cozumel Marine Turtle Salvation program helped get over 17,000 green turtles, and over 312,000 loggerhead turtles, safely into the sea. WOW!
The two groups that make up the program are vastly underfunded, and in desperate need of even the most basic supplies (like flashlights, batteries, and surveyors tape) to do their jobs.
So what are we going to do about it??

Where: Jump On In, Nashua (here's the waiver form)
When: Saturday, April 13th, 2013
Time: Noon What to bring: Anything from the CMTS' wish list (see below)
In April, we (with mom) will fly to Cozumel and deliver the supplies directly to the Director of Ecology, Héctor González Cortés. This is right before the start of turtle egg-laying season, so our donations will be very appreciated! We'll also get to tour the “turtle” beaches. We'll document this right here on so you can see it too.
Help the turtles! They need:
  • Small Hand-held Flashlights
  • Cash (to go towards a hand-held waterproof Garmin GPS—this is their biggest priority) Even a small amount will help!
  • Forehead-Mount Flashlights for Hands-Free Working
  • Small Spotlights - car-battery powered (via cigarette lighter)
  • Batteries – AAA, AA, D
  • Surveyor’s Plastic Marking Tape – orange or pink neon color
  • Latex Gloves
  • First Aid Kits
  • Pens
  • Black Waterproof Markers (Thin Tip Sharpie)
So thanks in advance for anything you can do!!

We'll see you at the party!
